We are delighted to have been a sponsor of the POLIS Annual Conference 2024 in Karlsruhe this year. The event, which is regarded as the leading European network for innovative and sustainable mobility solutions, brought together around 1,000 experts and decision-makers from all over Europe at the Karlsruhe Exhibition Centre last week.
Karlsruher Verkehrsverbund (KVV) took the opportunity to present the latest developments of the KVV.regiomove mobility platform at its own stand. In addition to the latest enhancements to the app, KVV also presented a comprehensive range of innovative mobility solutions, ranging from bicycles, cars and e-scooters to trains and buses.
A particular highlight of the annual conference were the technical visits, which provided participants with practical insights into the mobility concepts of the Karlsruhe region. A visit to the world-famous tram-train system of Albtal-Verkehrs-Gesellschaft (AVG) illustrated how the seamless linking of urban and regional transport is realised in the Karlsruhe model. Another technical visit led to the innovative bus depot of Verkehrsbetriebe Karlsruhe (VBK), which was specially designed for the operation of electric vehicles and impressively demonstrates how the city is shaping its mobility in a sustainable way.
Christian Höglmeier and Christoph Rentschler gave exciting presentations on the forward-looking RegioWIN flagship project RegioKArgoTramTrain. This innovative project is investigating the possibility of combining passenger and goods transport on AVG's lines and railways. The presentation was complemented by a tour of the Karlsruhe Mobility Lab of the Karlsruhe Technology Region. Here, the participants were able to inspect the specially developed load carrier, which is intended for transporting goods in light rail vehicles - a pioneering approach for more sustainable urban logistics.
The POLIS annual conference is organised by the POLIS office, the state of Baden-Württemberg, the city of Karlsruhe and Messe Karlsruhe. It offers cities and regions a platform to develop innovative strategies for sustainable mobility on site. We are proud to have been part of this inspiring event and would like to thank everyone involved for the enriching dialogue. Together we are shaping the mobility of the future.
