The VDV-TramTrain project with six partners from Germany and Austria and a procurement volume of around 4 billion euros presented one of the first vehicles at the world's largest trade fair for transport technology, InnoTrans, in Berlin.
Together with the vehicle manufacturer Stadler, high-ranking representatives of the TramTrain cooperation presented a two-system vehicle from the project to the public for the first time. The overall project management lies with VBK's Vehicles and Workshops division.
The aim of the joint vehicle order is to significantly reduce the costs per vehicle by developing a standardised yet operator-specific configurable vehicle. The first vehicle is scheduled to arrive in Karlsruhe in the second quarter of 2025 and go into operation in the fourth quarter of 2025.
